What does a hard landscaper do?

Rather than working with the planted aspects of the garden, a hard landscaping job involves working with the manmade physical elements. The types of tasks you might do can include:

  • • Path and flowerbed edging
  • • Patios
  • • Brickwork e.g., walls
  • • Fencing
  • • Drainage and irrigation
  • • Lighting
  • • Water features

 

What qualifications, skills and experience do I need to be a hard landscaper?

Employers will often require you to have some landscaping experience, however, you may find that if you have mostly worked in soft landscaping, you will be trained in the basic skills required for hard landscaping. Having an eye for design and detail is a definite advantage in a hard landscaper job.

Most hard landscaping positions will require you to have a UK driving licence and a CSCS card is preferred.
